What Happens at the Till When the Internet Drops?

In PratikKasa, daily work continues without internet: sales, returns, shifts, payment collection, stock counts, reports and printing. Data is stored on your device. When the connection returns, changes sync automatically and reach your other devices.

In Short

  • Sales, returns, shifts, payment collection, stock counts, reports and printing keep going without internet.
  • When the connection returns, pending records are sent automatically and reach your other devices.
  • Tasks such as managing users, roles and branches, approving devices, subscription and changing passwords need the internet at that moment.

1What Can You Do Offline?

Data is stored on your device. So when the internet drops, the daily work at the till keeps going on your device:

  • Sales and returns. Receipts, stock and cash are saved on your device.
  • Shifts and payment collection. You open and close your own shift and collect payments.
  • Stock counts, reports and printing. You count stock, look at reports and print receipts and labels.
  • Transfers between branches. Requests, dispatch and receiving also work offline. The other branch sees the document after sync.
  • Gift cards. Selling gift cards and paying with them also work offline.

The sales screen on desktop: the top bar says “Offline” and sales keep going. The products on the screen are an example.

2How Does Sync Work?

While there is a connection, sync runs automatically every few seconds. Records made without internet wait to be sent; when the connection returns, they are sent automatically.

Example: The Top Bar on Desktop

The internet drops, sales go on, the connection returns

  1. Offline

The internet drops. Sales go on; records wait on the device.

  2. Syncing

The connection returns. Pending records are sent automatically.

  3. Up to Date

Your other devices receive the new sales and stock movements.

  • Pending records stay on the device. Records waiting to be sent stay on the device even if you close and reopen the app.
  • The server decides. If the same record changed on two devices, the server settles the result; no conflict question appears on screen.
  • Reports. A sale made offline appears right away in the reports of the device that made it; on other devices and in the account portal, it appears after sync.

3Which Tasks Need the Internet?

Some tasks need the internet at that moment: managing users, roles and branches, switching branch, approving a new device, subscription tasks, changing passwords and uploading product images. These need up-to-date information to get the result right; without a connection, the app says so clearly.

Good to Know

  • Setting up a new device and its first sign-in need the internet once.
  • If a device has been offline for more than 24 hours, signing in with a password needs a connection; PIN sign-in keeps working.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How long can the internet be down?

As long as your subscription is active, there is no time limit for daily work. If a device has been offline for more than 24 hours, password sign-in needs a connection; PIN sign-in keeps working.

What happens if the same product is sold offline on two devices?

Both sales are recorded. Stock goes down by both sales, and after sync both devices show the same stock.

Do a phone and a computer work offline together?

Each device keeps working on its own. When the connection returns, the records of both devices come together.
