In Short
- A cash register's information receipt is given for a sale that will be documented with an invoice; the invoice is issued separately.
- The receipt a POS app prints is an information receipt too: it summarizes the sale and has no fiscal value. In Turkey, PratikKasa's receipt says "INFORMATION RECEIPT — NOT A TAX RECEIPT" at the bottom.
- A communiqué published on May 8, 2026 opened the way for new-generation cash registers to issue e-invoices; these are expected to take the place of the information receipt.
1What Is an Information Receipt?
An information receipt carries the details of a sale but isn't an invoice or a tax receipt on its own. In everyday use in Turkey, the term covers two different slips:
- The cash register's information receipt. When a sale that will be invoiced is paid on the fiscal cash register (ÖKC), the device gives this slip. The sale is recorded on the device, the customer gets the information receipt and the invoice is issued separately.
- A POS app's information receipt. The receipt sales software prints on a thermal printer or shares as a PDF. It shows the products, the amount and the payment type, and has no fiscal value.
2When Does a Cash Register Give an Information Receipt?
For sales without an invoice, the cash register gives a fiscal receipt. If the sale will be documented with an invoice, for example because the amount is above the invoicing threshold or the customer asks for one, the payment is still taken on the cash register, but the customer gets an information receipt instead of a fiscal receipt, and the invoice follows. That way the sale is in the device's records and isn't documented twice.
For an invoiced sale paid by card, the information receipt also includes the card payment details. If the invoice is handed to the customer at the time of sale, printing the information receipt isn't required, except for card payments. The invoicing threshold is updated every year; ask your accountant for the current amount.
3Information Receipt, Fiscal Receipt and Invoice: The Difference
- Fiscal receipt. The legal document given to the end customer for a sale without an invoice; it takes the place of an invoice.
- Invoice (e-Fatura, e-Arşiv Fatura). The main document for the sale; issued above the invoicing threshold and whenever the customer asks.
- Information receipt. Given by the cash register for an invoiced sale, or printed by a POS app; it replaces neither an invoice nor a fiscal receipt.
4What Changed in 2026? E-Invoices From the Cash Register
Tax Procedure Law General Communiqué No. 593, published in Turkey's Official Gazette on May 8, 2026, set out how new-generation cash registers (YN ÖKC) can issue e-documents such as e-invoices (e-Fatura and e-Arşiv Fatura). Its aim is for the invoice to be issued as a single document together with the payment details.
According to information from the Revenue Administration (GİB), the information receipt will be phased out: under the published draft guide, for payments that need an invoice, the cash register will issue the e-invoice itself instead of an information receipt. The communiqué gives no start date; GİB's guides set which documents the devices can issue, and approved brands and models are announced on ynokc.gib.gov.tr and ebelge.gib.gov.tr.
Ask your cash register provider when your device will support this, and your accountant when it will apply to you.
5PratikKasa and the Cash Register
PratikKasa is a sales and business management app; in Turkey, its receipt is an information receipt and doesn't replace a tax receipt. By default it says "INFORMATION RECEIPT — NOT A TAX RECEIPT" at the bottom.
Example: A PratikKasa Information Receipt
The legal note at the bottom of the receipt
The fiscal receipt comes from the cash register, and PratikKasa works alongside it: PratikKasa connects to Token cash registers. For card payments, the basket goes to the cash register, the card is read on the device and the fiscal receipt comes from the cash register. For cash sales, you issue the fiscal receipt from your cash register separately. Sales, stock, customer balances and reports stay in PratikKasa.
How to Do It in PratikKasa
