In Short
- A digital receipt is a receipt given as a PDF, by email or through an app instead of on paper; the type of document stays the same.
- A POS app's receipt is an information receipt, digital or not; in Turkey, the fiscal receipt comes from a cash register and invoices are issued as e-Fatura or e-Arşiv Fatura.
- With PratikKasa, if you don't have a printer, you can send a sale's receipt from your phone as a PDF on WhatsApp, by email or with another app.
1What Is a Digital Receipt?
A digital receipt (e-receipt) is a sales receipt given digitally instead of printed: as a PDF file, by email, by text message or in the store's app. The customer keeps it on their phone; it doesn't fade or get lost, and nobody has to hunt for a receipt to exchange or return something.
The digital receipts you see in big stores' apps come from their own cash register and invoicing systems. For any business, the first question is the same: which document is being given digitally?
2Which Receipts Can Be Digital?
- A POS app's information receipt. It shows the products, the amount and the payment type, and has no fiscal value on paper or as a PDF. It's given to the customer for information and convenience.
- An e-invoice. An invoice issued electronically (in Turkey, e-Arşiv Fatura); it can be sent to the customer by email.
- A fiscal receipt. Comes from the cash register. Whether it can be given digitally depends on the device and the rules where you operate; ask your cash register provider and your accountant.
In short, being digital doesn't make a receipt a fiscal document; the document is the same type on paper and on screen.
3Does a Digital Card Slip Count as a Receipt?
A card slip shows that a payment was made by card, whether it's on paper or digital. It doesn't replace the receipt or invoice that documents the sale itself: the sale still needs a fiscal receipt or an invoice.
4How to Give a Receipt Without a Printer
If you don't have a receipt printer, or it's broken, you can share the sale's information receipt from your phone as a PDF. It goes through the phone's share sheet to WhatsApp, email or any app you choose, or you can save it as a file.

5Sending Receipts From Your Phone With PratikKasa
In the Android and iPhone app, open a receipt in Sales History and tap "Print" to see three options: Bluetooth Thermal Printer, System Printer and Share as PDF. Choose Share as PDF and the receipt is prepared as a PDF file and the phone's share sheet opens.
A 58 or 80 mm Bluetooth thermal receipt printer connects to the phone, and you can print to a Wi-Fi or USB printer through the phone's printing service. The Windows app prints to network and USB thermal printers and to printers installed in Windows. You choose which details appear on the receipt in the receipt settings.
